Don’t get ripped off by scaremongers and inflated RTI payroll prices.
We all knew the biggest change to payroll since 1944 would bring about some major changes but what astounded us was the “Real Time” price hike some payroll agents and accountants are now charging.
It would appear that there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there trying to make a quick buck out of all the RTI confusion.
Nothing has changed within payroll or the way PAYE is calculated.
Why are these companies charging so much?
In all honesty we don’t know. As far as we can see our work load has decreased since the dreaded year-end no longer exists. This is a major plus for us and it is reflected in our price.
So what has changed?
The most significant change is how payroll is reported, what you report and when you report it. Ok there are a few extra i’s to dot and t’s to cross but that is basically it. RTI is all about reporting to HMRC before you pay an employee and the quality of information you report to HMRC about your employees.
So under RTI you can’t pay Mrs what’s her name £50 in her hand or that young lad thingy from down the street £70 for an odd day.
But what you can do is still pay Mrs what’s her name and thingy from down the street the same amount of money if you hold the correct information for them, report it to HMRC in the correct format at the right time.
It’s as simple as that!
